The first building was the typical Romanesque parallelepipedic dungeon, surrounded by a quadrangle coutyard, where a new seignioral dwelling (mentioned in 1256) was put up in the 13th century. It was in this courtyard that in 1364, according to custom, the consuls of Boussagues were elected.
